Southwest Missouri Regional Skywarn Interactive Repeater Coverage Map

  • Each repeater’s coverage area can be selected or de-selected as needed using its corresponding check box allowing you  to view coverage from just one repeater and/or from any combination of repeaters.
  • Whenever more than one repeater is selected, a darker red shading means that there is overlapping coverage.  This means you can access Southwest Missouri Regional Skywarn via more than one repeater frequency.
  • Repeater locations are represented by alphabetical markers on the map and are identified using the list and check boxes above.  Red markers represent repeaters which are always linked, and blue markers represent participating repeaters which are manually linked in during training nets and severe weather outbreaks.
  • On a PC with a mouse, you may place your cursor over a marker on the map to identify that repeater.  A small pop-up box should appear with the Location, Frequency, Offset and PL of that repeater.
  • The red-colored approximation of the coverage contour of any given repeater assumes the use of a mobile antenna with unity gain (i.e. a 2 meter ground plane antenna) located upon the roof of a vehicle with the end user delivering 50 watts to the antenna.  As a general rule, hand-held radios will receive diminished coverage especially while using “rubber duck” antennas, and base stations and mobile stations with higher gain antennas and/or who use transmit more than 50 watts may receive increased coverage than what is represented within this approximation.
  • This approximation does not take into consideration tropospheric ducting, foliage, local interference from electrical sources, co-channel interference, intermodulation/front-end overload, etc.
  • This map is best viewed on a PC or a tablet.  While it may be viewed and navigated on a smartphone, the screen sizes of phones are not ideal for viewing this map.
  • Zooming and panning on this map may be slow on some browsers and devices due to the high resolution rendering of the coverage contours.  If you experience extreme slowness, try using a different browser or a different device.

Missouri Skywarn N0NWS 145.490 MHz RepeaterSouthwest Missouri Regional Skywarn’s main repeater is the N∅NWS Repeater operating on 145.490 MHz. with a standard minus 0.6 MHz. offset and a PL of 136.5 Hz.  This repeater (pictured left) transmits and received from antennas located atop a 1,000-foot-high commercial broadcast tower in Fordland, Missouri approximately 15 miles east of Springfied.  This is a wide-area coverage repeater.  It uses a Vertex VHF Repeater unit along with a CAT controller.  A 100 amp DC power supply powers a 350 watt amplifier.

The N0NWS 145.490 MHz. repeater is the main linking hub which connects to participating repeaters:
Joplin N0NWS/R at 145.350 MHz
Walnut Grove AK0C/R at 147.330 MHz
Branson KJ6TQ/R at 147.105 MHz
Buffalo N0NWS/R at 147.180 MHz
Macomb N0NWS/R at 146.745 MHz (under construction)
Houston KB0MPO/R at 147.135 MHz
Licking N0KBC/R at 146.850 MHz
Rolla W0GS/R at 147.210 MHz
Dixon W0GS/R at 146.790 MHz

The 145.490 N∅NWS linked repeater system is also connected to EchoLink using Node Number: 291849 or N∅NWS-R.
