Southwest Missouri Regional Skywarn Nets

Southwest Missouri Regional Skywarn NetsSkywarn Training Nets: Tuesdays at 7 p.m. Central

Be sure to check into the weekly Southwest Missouri Regional Skywarn Net on Tuesday evenings at 7 p.m. Central.  The net begins with announcements about topics of general interest to the amateur radio community as well as any ongoing or expected hazardous weather events within the National Weather Service’s Springfield, Missouri County Warning Area (C.W.A.). This net is open to check-ins from all licensed amateur radio operators.  We ask that you wait for Net Control to call your specific area before checking in or until the end of the net when it is opened to check-ins from all areas.

Skywarn Severe Weather Outbreak Nets

During severe weather outbreaks that affect the National Weather Service’s Springfield, Missouri County Warning Area, designated net control operators will be standing by.  Their goals during these events are 1) to announce updated weather warnings, advisories, and other information released by the National Weather Service’s Forecast Office in Springfield to amateur radio operators and spotters throughout the C.W.A.  2) to relay incidents of observed severe weather by local radio amateurs (including trained spotters) to meteorologists at the National Weather Service’s Forecast Office in Springfield.  The goal of conveying any observed severe weather to the National Weather Service is to protect lives and property during severe weather outbreaks.  Therefore, during severe weather outbreaks, we ask all amateur radio operators on our participating repeaters to yield to net control and keep non-weather-related transmissions to an absolute minimum.
