This video provides a walk around of the Kraken RF devices the club constructed and owns thanks to a grant from the Community Foundation of the Ozarks with the request written by the late Larry Grinstead, WA0JZK, in an attempt to deter jammers from jamming the SMLRS, 145.49 SkyWarn repeaters, and other repeaters in the region. Other donors of time constructing the devices and purchasing additional equipment to build them are Steffen Wiest, KC0NQE, Michael Blake, N0NQW, Jeff Bertholdi, W0AV and James Adkins, KB0NHX.
If deterrence does not work, these devices will provide an immediate location of the transmission when the transmitter is activated. In beta testing is transmitter fingerprinting capability – a concept that has been around since the Morton TXiD came out in the late 1980’s. The ID feature will allow us and the FCC to positively ID a radio when the jammer is located. Mobile, portable or base operations – high or low power – none can escape the Kraken RF which records a history of signal keyups, the signal strengths and the “fingerprint” of the offending signal and leaves breadcrumbs on a map in real time. Using this feature in conjunction with traffic cameras will help us ID and locate the suspect more quickly. For a good look at the Kraken SDR, view the video that James Adkins put together.
Thank you for Supporting the
New Taney County Repeater Project.
We are so happy to announce the funding goals to get the New Taney County repeater on the air have been meet. We want to thank all the groups that have come together to make this happen.
We needed to raise $4033 to buy the antenna and pay for the tower work. As soon as the legal Department get done looking over the contract, we will start to get the antenna installed and the equipment moved into the building.
The tower site is secured, the frequency coordinated, and the repeater, duplexer, coax and accessories are already on hand. We need the local amateur community to help us get to the finish line.
