“CoCoRaHS”
by Caleb, KE0FOE
CoCoRaHS is an acronym for the Community Collaborative Rain, Hail and Snow Network. It’s a non-profit community-based network of volunteers of all ages working together to measure and map precipitation like rain, hail, and snow. The only requirements to participate are an enthusiasm for reporting weather conditions and a desire to learn more about how weather can affect our lives. Each time any kind of precipitation falls over an area, volunteers like you take measurements and report them via the CoCoRaHS website for others including National Weather Service meteorologists to view.
Major sponsors of CoCoRaHS include the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the National Science Foundation.
